A beautiful day was spent in the heart of Kyalami, Johannesburg, being a part of a rustic flea market for the first time. It was my mother’s idea, and a great one at that. We pitched up with our little gazebo, our chairs and tables, along with the arts and crafts we were selling, and ended up having such a fun time with our stall.
It’s the little moments such as today, that can make life so special. I didn’t view our stall as something that desperately needed to make profit, but instead as a way of bonding with my lovely mother, and easing Wild Reverence into the world, and into people’s hearts. I am grateful that I had this opportunity to hand out business cards to people who showed support, as well as proudly wearing our customised jackets with the logo embroidered on them.
Truthfully, I ended up buying other items more than selling my own things. This is not the point of having your own stall, obviously, but it made me genuinely happy to show support to the other stalls who also worked hard on their items.
I do believe that what you give out will come back to you; karma works in mysterious ways.
What I was selling though, is beaded chains. Over the past few years, when I have had time, I would make beaded necklaces, bracelets, waist chains, anklets etc. Unfortunately, they have been on my shelf collecting dust for some time, and what a great way to try sell them at a market! I managed to sell one necklace and one key ring, which was more than enough for me for my first time.
I am so excited to share with you what I will be selling at the next market, and the list of the wonderful treasures I have brought from this one. There are such talented people out there and I cannot wait to support them again on the 05thJuly – as there is a market every first Sunday of the month at The Country Pub in Kyalami.
