Chocolate Cake is absolute heaven on Earth and no one can convince me otherwise. The soft texture of the moist foundation, topped with a smooth, rich icing is one of the best dopamine boosts in life – especially when a woman’s cycle comes around.
In discovering my adoration for chocolate cake, I happened to discover that I can make my own. That I don’t need to rely on the supermarkets to provide a perfectly triple chocolate layered cake. If I just had the correct ingredients and steps, I can bake a version of my own, tailored to the way I enjoy eating it.
I found a recipe on Pinterest sometime last year (by the way, I do have my own Pinterest so feel free to follow and check it out!) and decided to scrapbook that exact recipe. I did also modify the ingredients to make it more chocolatey, so the recipe was version 1 for me until I started adding in my own bits that made me fall in love with my own baking.
I will be honest, baking is not something that comes naturally to me, probably just like cooking never used to, but I still manage to make the best of it. I do get frustrated and want to throw the towel in sometimes, but other times I am reminded very quickly why I started learning in the first place; because not only is the end result slices of heaven, the process of getting there can also be joyous and fun if done through a zero expectation degree; which is rarely the case for me but I manage sometimes.
The only true problem I have encountered when it comes to baking my own cakes and things is having to share – yes, so selfish, I know, but it’s the truth! I have poured all my effort, love and hardship into my cake batter… simply to have to share it once it’s done. Although it’s detrimental to myself if I don’t share because how unhealthy to eat an entire chocolate cake loaded with sugar, colourants and fats and so on. Getting older has taught me to share with kindness rather than resistance. It’s especially easier to share now considering I have turned into a gym rat and try my best to eat as healthy as possible in order to help my body develop muscles and strength as trained to do so.
Baking my chocolate cake recipe was actually a success, I am proud to admit. The icing was not a smooth road, but with some help it was salvageable. It was long to do, quite tiring but a fun process with amazing results and cannot wait to try something new that I have never done before, such as red velvet cupcakes or something else of the sorts, something not chocolatey. I stick to my comfort zone more often than not sometimes, such as only baking chocolate items rather than venturing to something else.
I encourage you to stay tuned for further baking of goodies and sugar-filled treats!
