Green Fingers

I am no gardener, my mother is. But since she is away, I decided to try and plant a few flower seeds for her. This happened a few weeks ago, when I planted the spring seeds, which is actually on youtube, which you can find here.

Anyway, I think I planted them incorrectly, or maybe because the dogs can still walk in the planting area, they have not sprouted yet….I thought they would, considering that seeds should naturally grow, whether I used a shovel or a stick to plant them in the soil.

I think the point is, that I tried. I poured love and effort into my task of planting those spring seeds. I still have hope. Apparently is they are watered everyday and in the sun enough, they should grow. But they have not; yet.

I planted African Daisies, Phlox seeds and Sweetpea seeds. The process was rushed, but it was fun. I was supposed to buy some sort of fence to prevent the dogs from walking in that part of the garden, but I never got around it to. Again, I was under the impression that they would grow ever so naturally.

I have attempted to plant flowers before; sunflowers to be specific. If I remember correctly, those didn’t go too well either. They sprouted and grew, but they didn’t last too long and I am not sure if it was because of the dogs again or if it was something I did wrong, but I just seem to be…bad at gardening.

The green finger gene skipped me apparently. My mother can just look at a seedling and it will grow instantly. I do wish I had that magical affect in nature, that I could help things grow and bloom into something beautiful and amazing.

Even though I may have messed up the spring seeds, it’s not the end of the world. I can always try again. I can always learn and develop those green fingers. Some people are born with them and some people have to earn them, work for them.

Sometimes I feel like we all have our different “talents,” like the fairies in Tinkerbell. My mom is like Rosetta, the garden fairy of course, and I, well, I have always felt like I had many similarities to Fawn, the animal fairy.

I am like Fawn. I may not be able to plant seeds properly and make them grow, but I am able to connect with an animal easier than most other people. And I am more than happy about that, since my life revolves around animals.
