Life is never easy, nor is it ever fair. It can get complicated, messy and overwhelming. Uncomfortable situations can arise at any time, without a warning, and make us turn ourselves inside out. Yet it is how we choose to respond to what life throws at us that determines the outcome of things. If we always respond rashly, or negatively, then we will never experience peace.
I believe peace is desired by many people. I crave to find my own inner peace. But it is not something that is easily attainable.
It’s strange, because peace lies within our souls, our energy, yet we have to work so hard for it, face all these different challenges, fight many battles in order to achieve something that is already a part of us. Our minds are usually what blocks us from reaching our peace. Our mental state contributes to the factors of how at peace we are with ourselves and the world.
It all starts with the mind. Conquer your own mind, and you can achieve anything you wish to. It sounds easier said than done, which may be true, but never impossible. As simple as this may sound, starting with the mind is going back to breath.
Breathing is the key to your peace. Not just breathing and forgetting that you are breathing, but rather intentional breathing, slow breathing, focused breathing. Closing your eyes and breathing deeply in and out, remembering that you are a miniscule entity on Earth that could either destroy or nurture. Breathing brings you back to the trees, to the sun, to the sky. To everything around you that doesn’t run according to a clock.
A petal will teach you a lot more about life than many other people or things in life. A flower petal’s cycle is pretty simple. If you research “the cycle of a flower petal,” you will find many similarities between that and lives of human beings, or you may not look beyond the tunnel vision and feel it was a waste of your time. Your initial thoughts when reading about it will also tell you a lot more about yourself and your mindset. A little exercise to test your mental state.
Sitting by the water fountain, focusing on each droplet of water and remembering that it is a gift that my breath flows so easily is enough to remind myself that there is much to life and the paths it provides, yet with mindful clarity and a goal of peace, nothing can break me down.
Remember that a river never knows where it’s going; the water trusts in the process, in the journey that it is being led on, knowing that the final destination is exactly where the river is meant to end up. Trust in yourself, in your intuition, and reconnect with yourself through simple breathwork and find solace within the beauty of nature around you, and everything that you want in life and are working towards, will fall perfectly into place as you have always wished for.
