Daisy Darling

Pink daisies

What is a garden without daisies? The world would be bare and colourless without daisies. They are the simplest flowers to exist yet carry such joy and light in their petals.

I saw some on a cycle ride when I was in Italy on a boat. I was riding to town (to go find the KIKO Milano store) and just had to take a photo of the beautiful flowers. My mother loves gardening and flowers and I knew she would appreciate a photo of Italy’s streets filled with pots of daisies.

They represented a symbol of happiness and light, even when I was feeling down. I genuinely enjoyed that moment of coming across those daisies and all my negative emotions were simmered down by the sight of the pretty flowers. Nature is so brilliant and yet us humans just end up destroying it.

Sometimes life is meant to be about stopping and looking at pretty trees and flowers and appreciating the natural beauty that surrounds our man-made environment. Looking at something such as daisies is also a great way to calm the nervous system and bring a moment of peace rather than allowing our usual day – to -day emotions affect us.

I will be making sure to plant daisy seeds in the garden sometime soon after being reminded of the joy and beauty they bring. Daisies in a general sense are also known to symbolise innocence, purity and new beginnings. They are your fresh start that you have been looking for, even if it’s a fresh day for you and you already feel overwhelmed, let the daisy in and fill you with new hope and positivity.
