Whispers To the Moon

When the world has gone quiet and the darkness has arrived, the moon shines bright upon the Earth. When everyone is asleep and you are not, the moon is always awake. It may not always be full, but it will always be there.

Sometimes I like to sit under the dark sky and stare at the moon, letting my mind stop swirling, drawing in the quiet yet powerful energy and releasing all my burdens. I am a strong believer in the moon, and it is a very magical part of our solar system.

It controls the ocean, when it’s full wolves howl in the middle of the night and it is a guiding light for those seeking assistance. When I was younger and in the car while my mother was driving at night, I always used to wonder why the moon followed us around. Even now I am still not sure but I have lost that sense of wonderment since growing up. It was also a subtle comfort that no matter where I was, the moon would always still be there.

As an adult, I still enjoy the quiet comfort of the moon, the solitude it brings. Maybe I don’t moon gaze as frequently as I used to, but I still do when I am feeling down or overwhelmed. I always also used to tell myself if I was sad that someone in the world right now is feeling exactly the way I do, and staring at the moon with me, which also brought a sense of calmness over me, knowing that I was not alone in my thoughts and feelings.

As much as I adore the sunshine and the happiness it brings me, it will never compare to the beauty or peace the moon emanates. The moon is there for those in doubt, for those who are lonely and those who have no one to talk to. Whispering your secrets to the moon will elevate a lot of stress and anxiety from your body and soul.

It was my beacon of hope when I was working on a yacht, on a late-night shift where I was left alone with my thoughts, and homesickness started to creep in. The moon would remind me that though I am far away, my heart will always be near.

So for everyone feeling down, hopeless or lost, look up into the sky in the night, and remember you will always be gently guided onto your path to greatness, and loneliness doesn’t last forever.
